Why Santa’s Lapland
Not all companies offering Lapland breaks give you the same magical experience your family will enjoy with Santa’s Lapland, and included items are not always what they might seem!
Here are some of the key points to watch out for when booking your Santa’s Lapland adventure. We you all these!
Meeting with Santa
Santa’s Lapland guarantees you a private family meeting with Santa Claus in his log-cabin home deep in the snow covered forest, complete with cheeky elves, a decorated Christmas tree and log-burning fire. Many other companies have Santa visit the guests’ hotel at dinner where families have to share his attention and he will have no idea of the children’s names let alone have their letters in his hand.
Reindeer sleigh ride
With Santa’s Lapland you will enjoy a proper ride through the snowy winter woods to get a real feel for this traditional Lapland experience. Your Sami guide will be happy to tell you the reindeer names and allow you take photographs of him in his native costume. Some other operators only offer a 2-minute ‘taster’ ride on a small circuit – not exactly the magical ride you were hoping for.
Husky sleigh ride
The highlight of many people’s visit with Santa’s Lapland – an unforgettable approx. 15-minute ride with adults given the chance to ‘mush’ your own sled! The sled is drawn by 4 or 5 eager huskies and each parent has the opportunity to drive if they wish, we can provide a driver if you would rather not though. Children nestle in the sled and the adrenaline-packed ride through the woods and over the snow-covered fells begins. A 2-minute ‘taster’ on a looped track form other operators doesn’t really compare.
Everyone gets to ride behind a snowmobile in a special sled during our ‘Search for Santa’, and an exciting optional ‘Snowmobile Safari’ is available for you to try actually riding one yourself.
The resort experience
We focus on the true spirit of a Lapland Christmas, with our full-length activities held in magical woodland wilderness locations in and around beautiful Saariselkä. Commercial charmless gift-shops and grottos are not what Christmas means to us at Santa’s Lapland and we want you to enjoy the winter wonderland of Lapland to its fullest so our chosen resort of Saariselkä is not full of glitz, bling and glitter but is a traditional and family-friendly village.
Places to stay
We want your stay to be comfortable and memorable; a one/two star business hotel from another operator is not going to do that for you. Our three and four-diamond hotels with excellent facilities and food, with the option of family apartments or cosy log-cabins, are full of Lapland character and all conveniently situated in the resort.
After 9 years’ experience in specialist Lapland family holidays, we know what a huge difference our dedicated and professional resort team will make in ensuring that your break with us runs magically for all the family! We have more staff per guest than any other tour operator we know of. There will always be someone on hand to answer your questions, help and advise you, interact and play with the children and to assist with any niggles that might arise. We are there to make sure your holiday runs as smoothly as possible and to ensure you leave with family memories to treasure forever.
Our resort of Saariselkä is only 25 minutes from Ivalo Airport so there are no long transfers to eat into your day or to dampen the excitement of your arrival. Small print often hides the transfer time with other companies so make sure you check.
